About Us

The principals of our practice, John Hensley and Walter Kennedy, have long been a part of the local legal community, each having practiced law in Boulder County since 1982. John Hensley retired from the practice in September 2023. Our commitment to the community has fostered long-term client relationships with both individuals and businesses, an aspect of our practice we value. Both of the principals had business experience prior to their legal education. This experience contributes immeasurably to their perspective, understanding of businesses, business culture and personalities.

Our practice is a general, civil practice serving our clients’ transactional and litigation needs. From the simple will to complex, multi-state litigation, our clients’ needs are serviced by the direct personal attention of the principals, who are assisted by paralegals, law clerk, associates and other attorneys, as the project requires. Efficient and prompt responses to our client’s needs are enhanced by our extensive use of advanced law office technologies. Our expertise, responsiveness and efficient use of staff and technology enable us to serve the legal needs of our clients, ranging from individuals and small business to multi-national corporations.

The cornerstone of our practice is our long-term relationship with clients. Our client base is derived primarily from referrals from our own clients and other professionals. This fosters a mutual trust between ourselves and our clients that we feel is essential to a rewarding lawyer-client relationship. Our relationships with our clients enhance our ability to work in a participatory partnership toward a mutually satisfactory resolution of their legal needs. Our emphasis on serving our existing clients sometimes results in the need to turn down prospective clients when our workload or the nature of their matter leads us to believe we could not devote the level of care or expertise our clients expect.
